So first time out, I got the order reversed. These are images I had planned to get to last summer but the James kind of took over. The bottom two are the burned-out headwater basin/drainage of Cold Spring Creek in Santa Barbara. It becomes the creek in the upper two shots. It's an interesting hike to follow the transition from burn to water in such a short distance. You can see the trailhead at the upper end. It's much more overgrown now. The greenery in bottom shot is mostly wild cherry...no relation to the band.
Jim, your new work looks lush and beautiful and is especially intriguing in how those qualities bridge the fragmentary/collaged composition. That's serious play. You are answering to the large scale with some dramatic forms and movement. Covering a lot of distance, time and space, in a single image. I love the peak in the TeePees, wow! And the sway of pines in the quarry! I understand what you mean now about creating a new and exciting body of work, it still riffs off of the grid but with a more complex kind of music.
Mike, keep going...until you run out of river. You are definitely gone.
